May 21st 2010: White Burgundy
The response to the first few white wine tastings of 2010 has been sensational. I can remember just a few short years ago when it was like pulling teeth to get a big crowd in here for white wines. Well, through diligence on my part and a true personal passion for these wines quite a few of you have realized that white wines belong on your table and in your cellars. When people say to me “I just don’t care for whites” my response is the same every time…..”you just haven’t had the RIGHT white wines.” Like white Zin (pink) ruining the enjoyment for many years of beautiful dry rose, heavy, oaky, buttery California Chardonnays have done the same damage to the reputation of all whites. The thing that’s needed here is an open mind and your experience with all wines will be all the more enjoyable.
And so, here we have one of the true icons of any color of wine, White Burgundy. Those of you who are familiar with these wines will, for sure, be here this Friday. And those who haven’t and are looking to expand their knowledge and enjoyment of all wines will be here as well. And the rest of you………………………….????????
