Wine Offerings and Appreciation

Small Batch Oregon Pinot Noir & More

Throughout the years, numerous amazing Pinot Noir offerings have been available, most as futures. With nearly 20 years of experience, strong, long-standing relationships have been developed with some of the legends of Oregon winemaking, including John Thomas, Ken Wright, Jim Arterberry-Maresh, and Matt Kinne of McKinlay, to name just a few.

Most of these “vignerons” allocate a hefty slice of their total production, which in most cases, is fairly tiny to begin with. Many of these Oregon winemakers only sell to a few selected restaurants and a wine shop or two — though often, this is just us.

A Traditional Approach to Wine Selection

An old-fashioned style of wine merchandising is followed, so PayPal is not accepted, and no orders are placed through a system without a human face. Establishing direct relationships with customers, whether out of state or local to Portland, has been one of the defining aspects of this approach.

Many customers send a note requesting a customized order, which can then be shipped or held for pickup. Understanding personal tastes enhances the ability to curate the ideal wine selection.

Exclusive Offerings via Email List

The primary goal is to provide the finest experience possible. To accomplish this, wines are offered by email list only. Offerings are posted on the site, but they typically sell out quickly, making early access through the email list essential.

Expanding into European Wines

Over the years, a deep appreciation has developed for European wines, particularly those from Italy and France. Portland benefits from direct imports of numerous Italian and French wines, many from small organic and biodynamic domaines. Significant quantities of these exceptional wines have been secured, with plans to expand offerings into renowned regions such as Burgundy, The Rhône, Piemonte, and Toscana. These selections will also be available exclusively through the email list.

A Wide Selection of Global Wines

Like many well-known local Portland wine shops, a wide selection of top-quality wines from every wine region around the globe is available. Whether the passion is for Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Loire, Italy, Austria, Germany, the Northwest, or California, exceptional choices can be found to suit various tastes and occasions.

The Role of Personal Connection in Wine Appreciation

Wine is often regarded as more than just a beverage—it represents culture, tradition, and shared experiences. Engaging in conversations about winemakers, tasting notes, and unique characteristics of different regions allows for a deeper appreciation of each bottle.

Exploring wine through direct interactions provides insight into the craftsmanship behind each selection. Learning about the history, production methods, and the people involved in winemaking enhances the overall experience and enjoyment.

In the end, wine remains a symbol of connection, storytelling, and the joy of discovering new flavors.
