There are no wines that excite me more than wines like we’re pouring this Friday. I could go on for hours about wineries like these. In order to keep it to a respectable time frame, here we go.

This week I’ll describe the wines by the pictures above;

Top Photo- Roberto Santana is the partner in Envinate, a group of four who met at enology school in Alicante, Spain. Santana manages their vineyards and the wines of the Canary Islands. As you can see, the vineyards are steep and not to be worked by the faint of heart. Some of the vineyards have to be worked by animals! Roberto is the man behind the Taganan Wines. These are among my favorite whites in the world! Wine #2

Midddle L.- Another Envinate wine, this time farmed by Delores Cabrera who’s been growing there organically for years. These vines, Listan Negro, are around ninety years of age and grown on the slopes of Mt.Teide, an active volcano, I mean really active! This wine was first made in 2013. Before that, Delores sold her precious grapes to the co-op’s. My how things have changed! The wine is made by Roberto from Taganan. Wine #5

Middle R.- A very old Garnacha vine from the vineyards of Alfredo Maestro.

Lower L.- The man himself, Alfredo Maestro. Suffice to say, amazing wines here. We’ll pour his unique and unusual Rosé called Amanda. Made with Garnacha Tintorera, I doub’t if you’ve ever had anything like it. This beauty pairs with just about anything on the table. Wine #3

Lower R.- In my mind, unsurpassed Albariño’s. Pictured are Alberto Nanclares and his new wine partner, Silvia Prieto. Alberto is of retirement age and has no children. He won’t retire for a while but he was so impressed by the passion and energy of Ms. Prieto he offered partnership. Now he has an heir! The “Dandelion” bottling, for me, is a top 5 value in its class each vintage. This is Albariño in a class by itself! Wine #1
