The Generals of the Spanish Wine Revolution. I Am So Excited About This Flight ($15)
Friday, August 11th, 2017 4 pm – 7:30 pm @ Mt Tabor Fine Wines
We don’t have enough to sell of the premium, but… I felt that rather than selling my 6 bottle allocation I would let you guys taste the future. There were 611 bottles made of this beauty, Laura Lorenzo’s ” best” cuvée, Azos De Pobo. You really, really need to taste this one. Pure from the soil. Striking wine!
The Envînate group are, I think, my favorite wines in the whole Jose Pastor portfolio. But, then there’s………… and there’s ……. Too many to have a fave. But, if I did have a fave it would be Envîate. The white Taganan from the steep cliffs of Tenerife in the Canaries is almost indescribable. The two Taganan Blancs are my favorite whites in the book. Hands down, no question.
One of the other partners of Envînate (a group of four) has the Lousas wines from the Ribiera Sacra. Taganan in the Canaries, Lousas in Galicia. These reds, just like Laura Lorenzo’s, have a craggy depth of very old vines and minimalist winemaking. Like I said, a purity.
I’m so excited and exhausted from my excitement that I need to close. But above…… them’s the Generals. The other three are friggin’ delicious in their own right. Mas Candi is making Cava seriously respectable again and, oops, gotta go.
