Sept 24th 2010: Red Burgundy from Small Domaines
Wow, what a two week tasting schedule around here. Those of you who were here last Friday for our “part one” of this two part Burgundy series were a party to one fantastic tasting! All six whites were, in most opinions, spectacular. And the quality for the price was amazing. For this weeks RED version it was a little tougher to find great wines at low prices but that said we’ve been able to find six beautiful French Pinot Noirs that will ,make for a great tasting and compared to a few years ago prices have certainly come down. I feel that all six are great buys for the quality and if you’ve had the pleasure to lay down some of these gems for 10-20 years in a cool cellar you know the rewards that are there. If you’ve never experienced great, old Red Burg you simply can’t imagine the smells and flavors that emerge after a long period in the bottle. But they’re darned delish right now!
