Nov 26th 2010: The Killer B’s, Barolo, Barbaresco & Barbera
Usually about this time of November many of us are Pinoted out! Last weekend a lot of you visited the wineries out in wine country and many of you were in here tasting the latest from the NW at our anniversary party. On top of that loads of people will be enjoying their favorite Pinot with the Thanksgiving meal. And why not, it’s a pretty perfect match! But my feeling is “I’ve had my fill of our local wines……………bring on some Italiano’s”!!! And so it will be on Friday. We’ll be pouring some delicious Nebbiolo’s and Barbera’s. One of my fondest memories on my most recent trip to Italy involves the Cavallotto family. At Hotel San Carlos in Cortemelia we enjoyed one of the greatest wines of my life, the 79 Cavallotto Barolo “San Guisseppe”. The next day we visited the winery in Castiglione Falletto and had the most memorable visit I’ve ever had at any winery……….and I’ve been to a few! We’ll be pouring their delicious 07 Nebbilo Langhe and fantastic 05 Barolo “Bricco Boschis”. I figured it would be interesting pouring the benchmark Nebbiolo “Perbacco” from Vietti, another top notch estate located in the same village, Castiglione Falletto, next to the Cavallotto.
So come on down, let your clothes out a couple of notches, and let’s enjoy some “beginnings of the holidays” fun!
