June 4th 2010: Mediterranean Reds

You may say to yourself, “What the heck is a Med Red”. These are wines grown along the shores of the sea which are influenced by the coastal climate. Obviously it’s a very big body of water and for this tasting we’ve decided on 4 French, 1 from Sicily and 1 from the Italian region of Calabria. These are tasty, spicy reds that go well with the foods grown in each particular area. If you’ve ever been to one of these areas a taste of one of these will surely bring the memories flooding back. And isn’t that one of the great beauties of wine in that it can bring you right back to the place where it’s grown and the memories that go with it.
