Dec 3rd 2010: Reds From The Beautiful Tuscan Hills

Well, here we go. The last three tastings of the year. There are actually 5 Fridays this December but the last two are on Christmas and New Years eve. I’m a big lover of tradition and for the last number of years we have been doing two guaranteed tastings in December. Oregon’s best Pinot Noir that will ALWAYS include three of my absolute favorite ones each year; Thomas and the two top Cameron’s. The Thomas was tough this year as there was less wine but I was able to hold back 6 bottles to pour just for this tasting. I really don’t like pouring wines I can’t sell but it’s only fair to let my loyal customers who buy it each year to taste the wine without having to crack a bottle. The Cameron “Clos Electrique” was made in tiny quantities in 08 but I did manage to hold back enough to have some for sale at the tasting. But other than that it’s sold out. The second guarantee is our very popular “Grower Champagne” tasting. Make sure you make this one. I’ve pre ordered a number of awesome wines that aren’t normally available in the market by some of the absolute best Grower houses. More on these two tastings in the next two weeks.

But for this week it’s Tuscan reds. We just received our allocation of my favorite Tuscan estate, Castell In Villa. I’ve sent many of you there when you’ve traveled to Tuscany and in every case once you went this too became your favorite. What incredible wine and beautiful estate and the owner, the Principessa, is simply divine!!!! We have one of the top Brunello’s in the 05 Casanova Di Neri and a number of other spicy, Tuscan soil driven offerings.
