Aug 6th 2010: Reds from Italy's Less Traveled Wine Roads

I love the idea of this wine tasting. About 15 years ago we decided that it would be a good idea to do a tasting of Italian reds that “did not” include wines from the famous regions of Tuscany and the Piemonte. We have the “Killer B’s” to cover the Piedmont and the “Reds from the Tuscan Hills” to cover Chianti, Brunello, Super Tuscans etc. And that leaves us with a tremendous selection of great wines to choose from. Those of you who have been to Italy know that just about every inch of land is planted to grape vines which makes this tasting so much fun to put together. I never have a problem finding six terrific wines for this tasting. To the contrary…………….I usually have quite a bit that I have to let go of but we only have room for six, soooooo. It’s a tough job!
