Aug 27th 2010: Whites from Northern Italy & Austria
I don’t know why but I get really excited about putting together these white wine tastings. It seems that there is so much more quality available for the whites. Usually with the red tastings I may have 15-20 reds that I’m looking at that I think are worthy to be included in the tastings and I have to slim it down to 6 wines but with whites it seems that I have more trouble eliminating and whittling down. Not sure why but there you have it. And this weeks was as tough as ever. For this tasting we have two Austrian Gruner Veltliners, three North Eastern Italian’s AND I’ve slipped in a dry white from the Furmint grape from Hungary which is a very special wine indeed! Look for more killer wines from Hungary in the very near future. I hope you all come and enjoy this tasting of crystalline beauties bursting with exciting aromas and flavors. I know I’ve enjoyed putting it together and can’t wait to try them as a flight of six.
