Rather than doing a flight of Cabs or Syrahs we’ve opted for variety this time. Cordivae, the Washington arm of Owen Roe, has crafted a tasty Petite Sirah at a great price. In the Ash Hollow we’ll be tasting a typical Bordeaux blend which is the style that’s made Washington State wines famous. Pomum is somewhat new to me. Every time my rep brought one in to taste I remarked “Who are these guys?” I couldn’t wait to put one in a tasting. The owners are from the Ribera Del Duero in Spain and most of their focus is on Spanish varietals. Their Tempranillo blend is a personal fave. Amavi is the “little” wine from Pepper Bridge vineyards. Most vintages I find the Amavi very close in quality to its big brother……at half the price! It’s our best selling Cab from the NW. Woodward Canyon is one of the pioneer wineries from Walla Walla and I was knocked out when I tasted this Barbera from their estate vineyard. They’ve planted with special clones brought in from Italy’s Piemonte. And Fausse Piste…………….. By now if you’ve hung around our tastings enough you’ve met Jesse, the owner and winemaker, and his lovely family. Jesse makes our favorite Viognier from the NW and his Syrahs have been shop favorites since their first release. This will be the first time we’ve poured one of his reserve “single Vineyard” releases. This lineup is loaded with variety and some fantastic wines that represent Washington State’s limitless potential.
