Have you ever had a 17 year old wine? Have you ever had a 17 year old WHITE wine? Well. now’s your chance. Most people are surprised that white wine will age at all. But those in the know realize that whites like German Riesling and Loire Valley Muscadet’s can outlive many reds. And not just age but improve greatly with age. Here’s a fantastic opportunity!!!! We have two of the best estates in Muscadet. You can see what happens to a particular wine with extended bottle age. Both great vintages; 2010 & 1995. Taste them side by side and you can see at once what time in the bottle can do for a wine. People always ask that question and now is a rare opportunity to taste for yourself. But that’s just the beginning of this tasting. Have you ever had a white wine made with the grape Romarantin? Probably not but what a treat. These come from a small area in the Loire dedicated to the grape. They’re called Cour Cheverny. It’s a rare wine and, in my opinion, an absolutely delicious drink. Sauvignon Blanc your thing? We’ve got two killer versions from, again, the 2010 vintage. Sancerre and Pouilly Fume are Sauv Blanc in its purest form. More about mineral and honey than that pungent herbal thing they do in New Zealand. This is benchmark Sauvignon Blanc. Chenin Blanc, the other most important white grape of the Loire, doesn’t come any better than when made by the hands of Florent Baumard. The thing to notice here is the cost of these wines. They are dirt cheap when you look at the quality we’re dealing with here. I mean a 17 year old perfect white wine for $33!!! Are you kidding me? Baumard’s $25 Savennieres? Here’s a wine that will improve and reward the collector big time…………for $25! There are simply no better values ANYWHERE in the world of wine, period, than in the Loire Valley of France. Those of us that love and collect these wines hope and pray that they will remain a secret to most wine drinkers so that we can have them to ourselves for such great prices.
