Some of you may have heard that a number of our wholesale distributors went by the wayside at the end of last year. Some were of no consequence but one I surely miss is Domaine Selections. Over the 16 years we’ve been around they were a big part of what we did and their portfolio of importers was impressive. Among them was Jorge Ordonez, who imports the strongest lineup of Spanish wines. These wines have been missing from the market until recently but now they’re back and our Spanish tastings will be better for it. You’ll notice some old favorites here that are from Ordonez selections. Paso a Paso and El Chaparral have been steady stackers in the shop for years and great values all along. Muga, what can you say……..about as good as Spanish wine gets. I’m doing something that I rarely do this week. I’m putting a wine in that we used a few months ago in a tasting. The 05 Vina Olabari is, in my opinion, a fantastic traditionally styled Rioja and for a price that’s way below the average. All in all a solid lineup of Spanish wines indeed.
The Lineup

2010 Vega Sindoa, El Chaparral- Old Vine Garnacha/ Navarra $15

2005 Vina Olabarri, Reserva/ Rioja $19
2007 Muga, Reserva/ Rioja $28
Premium Pour ($3)
2005 Bodegas Torrederos/ Ribera Del Duero $32

this wine, in the latest Vintage 10 or 11, received a 93 from RP and it is absolutley rocking. Looks like you do an outstanding job of promoting good wines. Good to see west coasters drinking something other than local US wines.
